The human remains found in a remote area of Pasquotank County in December were those of a Virginia man who had been missing since last summer and is believed to have been a homicide victim, the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation said in a recent press release.
The SBI identified the remains as those of Martrell Andre Lamar, 42, of Virginia Beach. According to the release, Lamar was reported missing from Knotts Island in July 2024 by the Currituck Sheriff’s Office.
Lamar’s skeletal remains were found by a passing hunter in a drainage canal along Sandy Road in Pasquotank County, near the Perquimans County line, on Dec. 2, 2024, the SBI said.
