Man who shot at Virginia Beach officers last August sentenced

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — On Wednesday, 18-year-old Elijah Santiago was sentenced to 12 years but will only serve three years in prison after shooting at police officers.

In December, Santiago pled guilty to four counts of assault and battery of a law enforcement officer, soliciting another to commit a felony, a concealed weapon charge and a charge of discharging a firearm, all from an incident that happened last August.

On August 13, around 3:42 a.m., the Virginia Beach Police Department responded to a call for a shooting at Trace Court, in the area of Bonney Road.
