OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Omaha Public Power District continued restoration efforts Friday througout the city and in neighboring counties.
OPPD had more than 95,000 customers without power as a result of Wednesday’s blizzard, with conditions making it difficult for crews to work until the storm passed out of the area around 4 p.m. That evening, they warned customers that they were dealing with “a multi-day event” and urged those without power to “plan accordingly.”
Both OPPD and MidAmerican Energy in Iowa put out calls for mutual aid, with crews from other states responding. They have also been assisting nearby areas experiencing heavy outages, like Fremont.
