Nearly 2,000 customers lost power downtown late Thursday afternoon, CenterPoint says

A swath of buildings and areas in downtown Houston lost power for hours late Thursday afternoon, CenterPoint said.

The company attributed the outage to maintenance work at a nearby substation, but said that crews were still working to fully identify the cause.
