Texas has seen a population boom over the past couple of years with a net gain on average of about a half million people per year since the middle of 2023. Even in a state with 30 million people, growing by around 500,000 residents is a significant increase especially when you consider the birthrate in the United States has been slowing over the same period of time.
Just earlier today I was conversing with my cousin Matthew, who is visiting from Virginia, about how once a family member triggers a relocation to Texas, then additional family members are usually quick to follow. He reinforced that by mentioning his friends from Manhattan relocated to Austin, and then their parents relocated here too because they were just too far away from the grandbaby.

According to this Wallet Hub article, several cities in Texas ranked incredibly well across a gambit of attributes that generally lead to desirable living like affordability, access to health care, and available recreational activities. Many monetary, cultural, and environmental factors figure into the final cumulative score for quality of life, and when they are all added together, one Texas city shines above the rest.
