Buildings across Onondaga County will be illuminated in green tonight to honor Jeremiah Huff, an 11-year-old boy who was tragically killed in a double homicide last Monday (March 17) in Syracuse. Jeremiah and 32-year-old Yeraldith Tschudy were shot with a shotgun at a home on Roney Road. Prosecutors allege that Jeremiah’s father, David Huff, is responsible for the murders. He is currently being held in jail without bail.
Jeremiah was a sixth-grader at Gillette Road Middle School, remembered for his vibrant personality and love for the outdoors. According to his obituary, he had a passion for rocks, fishing, camping, and sports like basketball, baseball, and soccer. His mother, Samantha Gallup Peltier, described him as a “vibrant, kind, warm, and adventurous young boy” who was a joy to be around. Jeremiah’s tragic death has deeply affected the local community, with Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon describing him as a special child who will be greatly missed.
