Bakersfield woman sentenced to jail for arrow-firing incident

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A Bakersfield woman accused of attempting to shoot an arrow at a police officer during an assault investigation was sentenced Tuesday to 270 days in jail, according to court records.

Sandy Lynn Ramirez in January made an “open plea” — when a defendant enters no contest pleas to all counts in the hope the court sentences them to a lesser punishment than what’s sought by the prosecution.

She pleaded no contest to three felonies — including assault with a deadly weapon — and three misdemeanors for the court-indicated term, which also includes two years on probation.
