McMaster, state leaders announce legislation to reform SC income tax

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – State leaders gathered at the South Carolina State House Tuesday morning to propose new legislation.

Several lawmakers joined Governor Henry McMaster to announce a bill that would drop the income tax from 6.2% to 3.99%.

Chair of the House Ways and Means Committee Rep. Bruce Bannister said the bill will simplify the tax code by collapsing the two tiered system and replace it with a single flat rate of 3.99%, which he said will gradually reduce to 2.49%…
