Monroe County in Upstate New York had the highest rate of motor vehicle theft in New York in 2023, according to state data.
Three of the top five counties with the highest rates of vehicle theft were in Upstate New York that year, according to data from the state Division of Criminal Justice Services. Monroe was followed by Erie, Bronx, Onondaga and Queens counties.
