Former Amarillo city employee faces sentencing for embezzling housing funds

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Vanessa Robinson, a former city employee, is set to be sentenced July 22 for embezzling $121,000 intended to assist homeless individuals in finding housing.

Last week, Robinson pleaded guilty to the charges, which involved devising procedures that allowed her to live rent-free at the expense of programs designed to aid the most destitute. The funds were provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
