Texas Man Charged in Multi-City Mississippi ATM Theft Case

A Dallas man has been charged in connection with a series of ATM thefts across Mississippi, including a November 2024 incident at Community Bank in Tupelo.

On November 11, 2024, Tupelo Police officers responded to a report of property damage at the bank located at 1317 North Gloster Street. Upon arrival, they discovered that an ATM had been forcibly broken into and a large sum of money had been stolen. During the investigation, authorities learned that multiple banks across the state had been similarly targeted.

The investigation took a major turn the following day, November 12, when officers in Duncanville, Texas conducted a traffic stop that led to the arrest of 24-year-old Winder Alex Canelon-Tiapa of Dallas. Tupelo and Madison Police investigators traveled to Texas, where they recovered evidence tying Canelon-Tiapa to the Mississippi crimes.
