EUGENE, Ore. – The Habitat for Humanity ‘ReStore’ in Eugene was broken into on Saturday night, adding to a string of break-ins that occurred across Lane County this past weekend.
According to the police report, a safe and about $3,500 cash was stolen from the retail location on Oak Patch Road. The store’s executive director, John Barnum, said he was in alone in the store’s office after the store closed on Saturday night. When he heard a loud noise, he went to investigate and discovered the store’s front door was bend and opened before he called 911.
“They crossed our area here and they went over to our back entry door,” Barnum said. “And, sometime around that time, they started working on this door with a crowbar or something and they started prying on it down here and up above here where the deadbolt came through. They finally did get it open. There’s a bar on the inside that they actually broke.”…
