Abandoned dog had been living in the sewer hoping someone would save him

In Southeast Los Angeles County, in the city of Cudahy, a matted little mess of a pup had been abandoned, and no one in the neighborhood had known when or where he had arrived. He kept a low profile; he would come and go at night, following his keen sense of smell to the food and water kind neighbors would set out for him along his path. When he no longer was hungry, he would run back to the same spot; somehow he maneuvered his way in and out of a grated sewer area nearby.

Last Friday, just by chance, a local rescuer, Becks Goodman spotted the dog. The dog had come out of the sewer just as she drove by. Her heart broke as she watched the little dog stealthily grab the available food and then, as if running for his life because he was so scared, retreat back into the sewer…
