Suspect Arrested in Deadly Drag Racing Crash That Killed 76-Year-Old Woman

According to authorities, the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado and another motorist in a Ford F-250 were racing when a crash occurred, resulting in the death of a 76-year-old woman. Metro Nashville Police later identified the suspect as 36-year-old Samuel Ramirez-Camacho, who was booked over the weekend on an outstanding vehicular homicide warrant. The charge stems from a multi-vehicle crash on October 18, 2023, in the 3800 block of Old Hickory Boulevard, which ultimately led to the death of Margaret Opelt in February.

The investigation determined that the crash occurred at 2:30 p.m. when Opelt, driving a Honda CRV, was struck while pulling out of a driveway by a northbound Chevrolet Silverado driven by Ramirez-Camacho. Authorities believe the Silverado was drag racing with a larger Ford F-250 three-quarter-ton truck at the time of the collision.

The force of the impact caused the F-250 to also be struck, sending it off the roadway, where it hit a broken NES pole and continued into a nearby parking lot, colliding with two parked vehicles…
