Bird Flu Confirmed at Syracuse’s Regional Market

A case of bird flu has been confirmed at the Central New York Regional Market in Syracuse. The infection was detected at the Halal Regional Fresh Poultry Market, a free-standing business on Park Street, during routine surveillance. As a result, the business had to depopulate its live poultry, meaning they killed off the remaining birds to prevent further spread of the virus.

According to syracuse.com, the market’s owner hopes to resume selling live birds by Thursday (March 27) or Friday (March 28). Fortunately, there have been no reports of human infections related to this outbreak…
