Severe air quality alerts issued for western North Carolina amid fires

RALIEGH, N.C. (WBTV) – An air quality alert was put into place on Wednesday for parts of western North Carolina as wildfires continued to burn across the region.

On Wednesday 26, the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Air Quality placed three counties under air quality alerts due to smoke from South Carolina wildfires. The smoke was expected to contribute to unhealthy air quality.
