‘I’m so proud’: Sacramento-area teacher flies with Blue Angels in hands-on lesson

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. — A Folsom Cordova Unified School District teacher participated in a U.S. Navy Blue Angels flight ahead of the California Capital Airshow earlier this month.

Jason McKnight, a sixth- and eighth-grade science teacher at Mills Middle School in Rancho Cordova, was selected by the military team to fly before Saturday and Sunday’s air show because of his dedication to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education and the lasting impact he makes on students, the school district said.

With his flight, the district said his eighth graders received a hands-on learning experience exploring aviation, the science behind flight and the dedication required to become a naval aviator.

“Aside from my kids’ birth and getting married, this has by far been the most fun and meaningful thing I’ve done,” McKnight said. “I’m so proud to be a part of making a positive impact for my students and community.”…
