Kei’Mani Latigue’s former teacher recalls concerns before 13-year-old’s death

TOLEDO, Ohio — One of Kei’Mani Latigue’s former teachers says she and others involved in her schooling called Lucas County Children Services multiple times to report signs that the teenager, who was found dead on Monday inside a vacant home in east Toledo, may have been abused at home.

Kayleene Hairabedian, who was Kei’Mani’s sixth-grade English teacher at Bennett Venture Academy in west Toledo during the 2023-24 school year, says teachers, parents of Kei’Mani’s classmates and a school bus driver also reported concerns to LCCS.
