Trial of Bryce Schubert, accused in death of Beaverton nurse, postponed to 2026

PORTLAND, Ore. ( BEAVERTON VALLEY TIMES ) — The trial for Bryce Schubert, accused in the killing of Beaverton nurse Melissa Jubane, has been postponed until March 31, 2026.

That’s the word from one of Schubert’s defense attorneys, Greg Scholl, who informed Washington County Circuit Court on Feb. 26 that due to his busy court schedule and the need for more time to prepare a defense, the trial needed to be delayed from its original start date of Sept. 9.

Jubane was reported missing Sept. 4, 2024, after failing to show up for her shift at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. Two days later, her body was discovered and Schubert, who was Jubane’s neighbor, was arrested on suspicion of her murder.

Schubert is currently in custody , charged with first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping and abuse of a corpse.

“Discovery is voluminous and complicated and involves large amounts of digital discovery,” Scholl wrote in the document. “The defense is engaged in ongoing discussions with the prosecution in this case on more than one topic.”…
