Details released for 79th annual Aloha Festivals

The 79th annual Aloha Festivals, the state’s longest-running cultural celebration, has announced its 2025 schedule running the month of September. This year’s theme is “Ko Kula Uka, Ko Kula Kai — Those of the Upland, Those of the Shore: Mauka to Makai.”

“Inspired by olelo noeau (Hawaiian proverb), this year’s theme is a reminder that food giving, sharing and exchanging are cornerstones of communal living and critical to a thriving society,” a news release said. “From upland farms cultivating kalo (taro) to shoreline fishermen providing seafood, Aloha Festivals will highlight the traditions, recipes and tools passed down through generations as well as the individuals and organizations dedicated to ensuring food reaches those in need. This year, Aloha Festivals returns to the heart of the home: the kitchen.”…
