CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Most of the Lowcountry remained dry for the beginning of the weekend, but an increase in low-level moisture will activate our higher rain chances for Sunday and Monday!
Partly to mostly cloudy skies continue to prevail tonight as an area of high pressure remains to our east. Southeasterly winds up to 10 MPH overnight will keep conditions mild and relatively humid. A brief area of drizzle can’t be ruled out, but most areas will stay dry through daybreak. Sunday morning’s lows are forecast to fall into the upper 50s and low 60s.
Isolated showers will begin to move into the Lowcountry early Sunday as deeper moisture is drawn in ahead of Monday’s cold front. By the afternoon, the focus of showers and embedded thunderstorms will pivot to areas near and west of I-95. Afternoon highs for most should return to the mid to upper 70s.
A better chance of storms will arrive late Monday afternoon and evening when the front pushes into the Carolinas. Our entire viewing area remains in a Slight (Level 2 of 5) risk for strong to severe storms between Monday evening and early Monday night. Strong to locally damaging wind gusts will be the primary hazard; one or two instances of small hail and localized downpours can’t be ruled out…
