SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) — Lingering snow showers to the east in the morning gave way to a mainly quiet afternoon. Even with cloud cover in place, that late March sun angle was able to melt away a lot of the snow that we received yesterday.
Snow showers to the west, however, will linger for a little while longer as we head into the evening and first part of the night. Little extra accumulation (Less than an inch) is expected. Beyond that, we’ll have a quiet start to the new work and school week…complete with the wind backing off temporarily.
Tuesday and Wednesday continue to be a stretch to monitor closely, as another late-season storm system rolls through KELOLAND. Rain and snow are likely as we go through Tuesday into Wednesday, with higher amounts of either depending on where you area. In general, chances for snow are higher to the north and west, while rain chances are higher south and east.
A few rumbles of thunder are even possible, with a “Marginal Risk” for severe weather just southeast of us late on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, a winter storm watch is in effect for northeastern South Dakota from Tuesday evening into Wednesday evening. This includes Brown, Day, Grant, Marshall, and Roberts Counties. Several inches of snow and blowing snow concerns are in place for the northeastern corner of KELOLAND. Keep an eye out for updates.
After this system, we’ll try to quiet down again through the end of the work and school week, though some rain and snow showers are possible out west on Friday. Saturday also features a lesser rain shower chance in the southern half of KELOLAND. We’ll quiet down again on Sunday.
