Motorists arriving in Colorado long have wondered why a state that seems so prosperous would put up with such badly crumbling highways. The neglect of our major transportation infrastructure — eighth worst in the country in the Reason Foundation’s annual rankings — has left first-time visitors with a literally jarring impression as soon as they cross the state line.
If House Bill 25-1277 becomes law, those same motorists will have another contradiction to consider, and it’ll hit them as soon as they pull over for a tank of gas. Notably, how a state reputed to have the most educated people in the country could elect such clueless lawmakers.
The bill mandates labels posted on gas pumps and other places, apprising the public: “Warning: Use of this product releases air pollutants and greenhouse gases, known by the state of Colorado to be linked to significant health impacts and global heating, respectively.”…
