Man pleads guilty to deadly 2023 crash

Albany County, NY (WRGB) — A Slingerlands man could take a plea deal Wednesday to satisfy charges including aggravated vehicular homicide, stemming from a crash that killed a high school student in May 2023.

The deadly May 11, 2023 crash happened on State Route 85 in the Town of Bethlehem just after 2 p.m., when a vehicle driven by Thomas F. McGrath, 71, collided with a car driven by Michael J. Kleinke, 17, of Colonie. Both drivers were transported to the hospital at the time, but Kleinke succumbed to his injuries several days later.

On July 25, 2023 the Bethlehem Police arrested McGrath, charging him with felony Aggravated Vehicular Homicide, second-degree felony Manslaughter, misdemeanor Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, and Several Vehicle and Traffic Law Violations…
