Temps are warming up for the rest of this week, then we have a rainy Monday on tap

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – The Midlands may see a few showers through this evening with most areas staying dry. A late week warm-up will have us feeling more like it’s several days into summer already.

First Alert Headlines

  • A few showers possible, mainly west.
  • Record high temperatures possible later this week.
  • Better rain chances return at the end of the upcoming weekend.

First Alert Summary

High pressure offshore today is helping to bring in some additional moisture mainly in the form of clouds and increasing humidity levels across the area. A few showers are possible today through this evening, mainly for Columbia and points westward. However, even in these areas most locales will stay dry.

Some partial clearing this afternoon will help boost our temperatures into the upper 70s to lower 80s.

High pressure lingering offshore will continue to allow moisture and temperatures to climb through the end of the week. Starting Thursday, highs will reach the upper 80s to near 90. Some record highs may even be in jeopardy later this week.

Even though the weekend starts out hot and humid, we’re tracking a cold front Sunday. This slow-moving boundary drops in for the end of the weekend and lingers into the start of next week. With it, we’ll have our next round of showers and thunderstorms.
