How thick is the ice up north? Check out this MDOT photo

Ice formed a vertical rod around a pickup truck’s antenna in a photo shared Wednesday as crews worked to clean up the aftermath of last weekend’s ice storms.

The Michigan Department of Transportation shared the photo via social media, along with other snapshots and an update about cleanup efforts.

The passenger side of the red MDOT pickup truck is seen covered in a thick layer of ice that likely made opening the doors difficult. The passenger side mirror is completely encased in ice and has icicles hanging from it. However, the wildest part of the photo is the thick rod of ice standing more than a foot tall around the vehicle’s antenna.

Other photos show an ice-covered chain-link fence, road signs, trees and power lines, along with a power pole leaning precariously toward a roadway…
