Des Moines, IA – Scattered thunderstorms and strong winds are expected to impact much of Iowa today, with hazardous weather continuing into the early afternoon and gusty conditions lasting through 7 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service in Des Moines, severe thunderstorms remain possible this morning, particularly in eastern Iowa. These storms could bring large hail and damaging winds. While uncertainty remains, some areas could see strong storms, especially in the southeastern portion of the state.
In addition to the storm threat, non-thunderstorm winds are forecast to intensify across the state beginning in the afternoon. Gusts are expected to reach 40 to 45 mph, prompting a Wind Advisory from noon to 7 p.m. for nearly all of Iowa.
