FactFinder helps Wichita woman clear her name after car she no longer owned was involved in hit-and-run

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – A Wichita woman was recently reminded of the importance of keeping all of her old paperwork.

Months after she traded in her vehicle and out of her name, Debra Love was surprised to receive a letter in the mail saying that the car had been involved in an accident and police were looking for her for answers.

A copy of a signed agreement from the Kansas Department of Revenue dated September 4 shows the official ownership transfer between Love and the dealership she traded the car to. The car was taken off Love’s insurance, and for the next six months, the car was the least of her concerns…
