A traffic stop in Grand Terrace escalated into a vehicle pursuit when a Riverside man allegedly refused to comply with a deputy’s instruction and chose to take flight. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, the incident involving a 67-year-old Riverside resident, Enrique Fuentes, occurred on Wednesday at around 8:11 p.m. The chase began after Fuentes was stopped for multiple vehicle code violations and subsequently tried to escape the scene.
Details provided by the department revealed that Deputy M. Jebbia, of the Central Station, was the official who initiated the stop at De Berry Street and Michigan Avenue. Fuentes’ reluctance to identify himself led to his decision to speed away, making unsafe turns and driving through several stop signs, in a clear act of defiance against the law enforcement authority pursuing him.
