John Calvin Moore, 58, of North Carolina, was sentenced to seven years in prison after being caught with a large amount of drugs disguised as Christmas presents. The U.S. Attorney’s Office reported that Moore was convicted on charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Charles Goodwin.
On December 22, 2023, the Oklahoma City Police Department stopped Moore for speeding and found over $350,000 worth of drugs in wrapped packages. With the help of a K-9 unit, they discovered 42 pounds of methamphetamine and 38 pounds of cocaine in heat-sealed bags. Moore, who had a prior felony conviction in New Jersey for possessing weapons with unlawful intent, pled guilty to the charges on September 26, 2024.
