NU Board of Regents to consider naming arena for John Cook

At the next Nebraska Board of Regents meeting, Nebraska Athletic Director Troy Dannen will seek approval to rename the Bob Devaney Sports Center’s volleyball arena to The John Cook Arena at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

The proposal would honor Cook, who helped grow Nebraska volleyball into one of the nation’s top programs before announcing his retirement earlier this year. Cook would become the second former Husker volleyball coach to be honored in the building, joining former coach Terry Pettit, who had the court named after him in 2013.

According to the agenda item released by the Board of Regents on Friday, the naming project would cost $400,000 including new signage. The agenda item also notes that a bronze statue of Cook would be created and placed outside the Arena…
