U.K. manufacturing giant JCB is increasing the size of a new factory under construction in San Antonio to boost U.S. production and limit the impact of President Donald Trump’s new tariffs on imports.
The industrial equipment maker said Friday it’s now planning a 1 million-square-foot plant on the South Side to serve its growing U.S. market . Original plans called for a 720,000-square-foot factory to start production next year. Construction was to begin last month.
“The United States is the largest market for construction equipment in the world and President Trump has galvanized us into evaluating how we can make even more products in the USA, which has been an important market for JCB since we sold our first machine there in 1964,” Chairman Anthony Bamford said Friday in a statement …
