A beloved event surrounding a rare natural phenomenon found in Western North Carolina is returning once again. Tickets for the 2025 Blue Ghost Firefly Tour go on sale on April 8.
Event organizer FIND Outdoors describes on its website the yearly blue ghost firefly displays as resembling a “collection of fairies carrying blue candles through the forest.” The fireflies aren’t just beautiful – they’re also rare, found in only a few areas. Luckily for WNC residents, one of these areas is “Land of Waterfalls” Transylvania County.
“Every year, the Blue Ghost Firefly Tour offers visitors a magical glimpse into one of nature’s most captivating sights,” Dallas Martin, chief education officer of FIND Outdoors, said in a press release. “This event is not just about experiencing the beauty of the fireflies – it’s an opportunity to learn about conservation, the delicate balance of our forest ecosystems, and how we can protect these incredible species for generations to come.”…
