NOPD, federal agents make arrest, seize guns, drugs

NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — The New Orleans Police Department, along with the help of federal agents, arrested a man on Wednesday following a drug and gun bust.

According to the NOPD, Special Operations officers, ATF agents and Homeland Security agents searched a location at Winners Circle in New Orleans East around 3 p.m. on April 2.

On scene, they reportedly recovered at least three firearms, one of which was stolen, ammunition, 248 tapentadol tablets and 349.7 grams of marijuana.

29-year-old Alvin Dwayne Gentry was also arrested as a result of the investigation. He has been booked on the following charges:

  • Illegal possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS.)
  • Relative to prohibited acts — possession with intent to distribute a schedule I CDS (PWITD.)
  • Relative to prohibited acts — possession of a schedule II CDS (PWITD.)
  • Relative to illegal possession of stolen firearms.
  • Relative to resisting an officer by flight.
