TEXAS – Dairy Queen fans in Texas are facing a wave of closures as nearly 40 locations have shut down, sparking concerns about the franchise’s future in the state.
According to KETK, 12 Dairy Queen restaurants closed this week alone, with six locations shutting down in Hemphill, Jasper, Kountze, Huntington, Longview Eastman, and Lufkin. The affected restaurants were all operated by the same franchise owner, though the company maintains these closures are isolated incidents.
This follows a broader issue from February when KETK reported that 25 Texas locations closed after a legal dispute between the American Dairy Queen Corporation and Project Lone Star, which managed 38 franchises.
