A Fruitland Park man was arrested after admitting that a “bindle” of methamphetamine found during a traffic stop belonged to him.
An officer observed a black Dodge pickup truck towing a trailer with no brake lights traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 27/441 around 5 p.m. Monday, March 31, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. Upon pulling the vehicle over, the officer approached the female driver and her brother, 37-year-old Christopher Lynn Sappington.
The officer explained the reason for the stop to the driver. Sappington advised that he “knew better,” as the driver later stated the vehicle did not belong to her. The officer requested consent to search the vehicle, as he knew Sappington had a narcotics history. They both granted their permission, the report said.
Once the occupants were out of the vehicle, the search began. Inside the center console was a small “bindle” containing a crystalline substance with the top burned shut. It weighed about 0.2 grams and tested positive for methamphetamine, the report said…
