Sean Kingston and mother convicted of wire fraud scheme

MIAMI, Florida — Kisean Paul Anderson, known as Sean Kingston, and his mother, Janice Eleanor Turner, were convicted by a federal jury of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and multiple counts of wire fraud. The duo defrauded luxury merchandise vendors of over $1 million, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida.

From April 2023 to March 2024, Anderson contacted victims via social media to purchase high-end merchandise. He invited sellers to his luxury homes in Broward County, using his celebrity status to gain their trust by promising social media promotions and referrals to high-profile celebrities. When payment was due, Anderson or Turner sent fake wire receipts as payment for items like a bullet-proof Escalade, watches, and a 232-inch LED TV, stated the press release.

The victims, realizing the funds never cleared, were either unpaid or only compensated after legal action or law enforcement involvement. Anderson and Turner face up to 20 years in prison for each count, with sentencing scheduled for July 11 before U.S. District Judge David Liebowitz…
