Among the Hands-Off Protests, One Cincinnati Individual is Fighting for Penguins

To say the country is going through a tumultuous time is putting it mildly. We’ve seen many things that have affected citizens and have encouraged them to raise their voices and express their concerns. For the unaware, this past week, we saw the Hands-Off Protests nationwide, and hundreds of people attended them. While we all know what they were fighting for, a few people were also trying to create awareness of a particular topic. If you didn’t know, tariffs have affected penguins, too, and a person in Cincinnati, Ohio, took their time during the recent protests to fight for them.

The picture comes from user NordlingNatha in the r/cincinnati subreddit. In the photo, we can see an individual who attended the recent Hands-Off Protests raising a sign that reads, “Stop the Tariffs on Penguins!” This may seem like a joke, but it isn’t.

In the past few days, the current president of the US has put tariffs on islands inhabited only by penguins. These are the Heard and McDonald Islands, which only have a population of seals, seabirds, and penguins, which is the reason behind this person’s sign during the Cincinnati protests…
