Quack-tastic New Sculptures Made Of 20,000 Rubber Ducks Are Brightening Up Miami Beach

The next time you find yourself strolling — or waddling — along Lincoln Road, don’t be surprised to find thousands of colorful rubber ducks as part of the city’s newest art installation! The vibrant creations, titled “Proud Love” and “UnityBeak,” are the work of artist Facundo Yebne of FLY Miami Art and will coincide with Miami Beach Pride in April as well as International Pride Month, which is celebrated annually in June.

At 8 feet tall, “Proud Love” depicts a radiant heart arranged in the colors of the Pride flag, reflecting courage and love in all forms. If you get a closer look, you’ll find that it is composed of about 5,000 rubber ducks, each one a little over two inches in size!

The second sculpture, “UnityBeak,” features a whopping 16,000 multicolored rubber ducks to form two ducks sharing a kiss. According to a press release, its design emphasizes the idea that strength lies in numbers.

The playful, yet thought provoking artwork sets out to encourage dialogue around themes of inclusivity, unity and resilience. The use of rubber ducks is intentional, as it turns a universally nostalgic object into a symbol of solidarity…
