After this past week here in Nashville, I get why they completely ignored the sirens.
Now, first of all, let me start out by saying you shouldn’t ignore a tornado warning. It’s only been a few years since a tornado ripped through Nashville and killed 5 people, injuring hundreds and causing over a billion dollars in damage. Tornadoes are no joke, and you don’t have a ton of time to prepare for them, so this time of year it’s always important to be aware of the weather and be ready to take cover if a warning pops up.
But it seems like the past week here in Music City has been just one long tornado warning. The first one woke me up at around 2:30 on Thursday morning, and then another followed shortly after, and by about 5:30 AM I had decided that it was in God’s hands and just silenced my phone and went back to sleep – after no less than 4 tornado warnings and 6 phone calls from the Metro Nashville emergency alert system…
