MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Myrtle Beach saw nearly 20 crashes in three days when snow blanketed the city in January, and now emails reveal how those wrecks could have been avoided.
WMBF News obtained emails from the City of Myrtle Beach showing it turned down an offer to contract out snowplows four days before the city saw its most snowfall in 25 years.
Myrtle Beach’s deputy fire chief sent the city’s emergency manager, Travis Glatki, an email showing an offer to contract out snowplows if the city was interested.
Glatki then emailed the procurement department asking if the city already had a contract with any snow removal companies in place or if they could buy equipment if “Things get messy.”…
