The largest home in Iowa’s Polk County, one of the most sought-after counties in which to buy a home in the entire state, has hit the market as of last week, and the estate as well as its amenities are both eye-popping.
The home is a 10,666 square-foot mansion located in Elkhart, IA, which is about 20 miles north of Des Moines. The home went up for sale on Iowa Realty’s website, along with Zillow, on Friday, April 4th. The realtor for the property is Rick Wanamaker, who specializes in high-end real estate.
Wanamaker told The Des Moines Register that if the property sold for at the price it’s presently listed ($4.9 million), it would be the fourth highest sale ever for a home in the Des Moines metro. He also noted that the buyer would be entitled to bragging rights because, despite being the largest home sold, it wouldn’t be sold for the highest price.
Here’s a breakdown of the features inside the home, per Zillow:
- Bedrooms: 5
- Bathrooms: 9
- Full bathrooms: 3
- 3/4 bathrooms: 3
- 1/2 bathrooms: 3
- Main level bedrooms: 1
- Wet Bar, Central Vacuum, Separate/Formal Dining Room, Eat-in Kitchen, Wine Cellar, Window Treatments
- Flooring: Hardwood, Tile
- Basement: Finished,Walk-Out Access
- Number of fireplaces: 7
- Fireplace features: Gas, Vented
The property also features two swimming pools (indoor and outdoor), an 8,760-square-foot indoor tennis court, a massive, 1,708-square-foot garage, and a home theater boasting an 110-inch screen. Movie night at this home alone would be the envy of the neighborhood…
