Pasquotank picks 2 firms for SAMC redevelopment

Two development consulting firms, one based in Raleigh and the other in Durham, have been selected by the county to assist in the redevelopment of the Sentara Albemarle Medical Center property once the new hospital opens in August.

The Pasquotank County Board of Commissioners voted 6-1 on Monday to hire NAI Tri Properties of Durham and Sanford Holshouser of Raleigh to consult on the sizable redevelopment project. The UNC Development Finance Initiative was the third of a total of three firms that provided presentations to commissioners during Monday’s special called meeting. Commissioner Barry Overman cast the opposing vote.

Plans to redevelop the county-owned hospital property are expected to begin after current hospital personnel and patients complete their transition into the new hospital that is still under construction at the Sentara Albemarle Regional Health Campus.
