Judge rules on custody of Kei’Mani Latigue’s funeral

TOLEDO, Ohio — UPDATE: A probate court judge determined Tuesday morning that Kei’Mani Latigue’s grandmother, Dorothy Latigue, has won custody for Kei’Mani’s body and estate. Her public funeral is planned for this Friday.

Tiara Kasten, Kei’Mani’s mother, was served a deposition from Dorothy Latigue to appear in court for custody of Kei’Mani’s funeral services and estate. In court, Kasten argued that she heard from other family members that the grandmother did not plan to invite her to the private funeral service. She said that was why she wanted to have permission and go with another funeral service.

Dorothy Latigue claimed Kasten was not around enough, and said she was planning to have the funeral last week but it was postponed when Kasten argued that she, as Kei’Mani’s biological mother, should be allowed to organize the funeral services…
