Bee swarm surprises New Orleans neighborhood, finds safe new home thanks to retired beekeeper

NEW ORLEANS — With all the pollen in the air, bees are swarming in New Orleans.

Kurt Opprecht was standing outside his house on Bartholomew Street in St. Roch, talking with a neighbor, when he spotted something buzzing in a small oak tree in the front yard.

“I go wait a minute,” Opprecht said. “What’s going on here. And there was, they looked about like that, just a cluster of I don’t know, thousands of bees. They’ve been there for two days now.”…
