Bondi Dodges Migrant Questions, Walks Out on Reporters

Additional Coverage:

Attorney General Pam Bondi abruptly ended a press conference Wednesday, dodging a reporter’s question regarding the criminal histories of migrants deported to El Salvador.

When asked about a “60 Minutes” report indicating 75% of the deportees had no public criminal records, Bondi responded by discussing Venezuelan migrants she referred to as “illegal aliens,” stating they “should not have been in our country” and are “committing the most violent crimes.” She then pivoted to a broader defense of deportation practices, arguing that even without individual criminal charges, deportation is justified to “save room in our prisons.”

The reporter pressed Bondi for a direct answer to the initial question, but Bondi turned and left the podium, ending the press conference.

Bondi’s comments echo the Trump administration’s stance on undocumented immigration. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has previously stated that all undocumented immigrants are considered criminals for violating immigration laws.

In other news, Bondi recently commented on the possibility of a Trump third term during a Fox News interview. While expressing her desire for an extended Trump presidency, she acknowledged a third term would likely be unconstitutional, stating Trump would “probably” leave office at the end of his second term. When pressed on her use of “probably,” Bondi conceded the need to consult the Constitution, calling a third term a “heavy lift.”
