Mega Millions to raise ticket prices to $5 nationwide

NORTH CAROLINA (WNCT) — Mega Millions will be raising the prices on their tickets.

In conjunction with their brand new look, the lottery game will be raising the price of their tickets from $2 to $5. They said that this will take their average jackpot amount to $800 million and their non-jackpot winnings will be up to $10 million. The odds of winning should improve slightly to 1 in 23. The odds of winning the grand prize will now be 1 in 290 million. Not everyone is happy about, NewsNation reports.

“Instead of buying two tickets or even three tickets, now you can only buy one, and the chances of winning are so slim,” said Justin Arnold, of North Providence, Rhode Island to NewsNation. “I’m probably going to stop playing myself now, and I’ve been playing for a while.”…
