2 arrested after ‘recklessly fleeing’ from traffic stop on I-4, taking off on foot: HCSO

LAKELAND, Fla. (WFLA) — Two individuals fleeing a traffic stop on foot were arrested after Hillsborough County deputies caught them on camera and tracked them down.

Just after 6 p.m. Monday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office assisted with a search of a vehicle that fled, traveling eastbound on I-4 into Polk County.

Video captured from the sheriff’s office’s Aviation Section shows the small grey car passing traffic on the left shoulder at a high rate of speed. Moments later, the vehicle crossed all lanes, traveling onto the right shoulder, where the driver crashed into another vehicle.

The driver and passenger quickly exited the vehicle and took off running down the right shoulder of eastbound I-4 before hopping the guardrail and entering a large field near Wabash Avenue in Lakeland…
