Tennessee bill aims to ban red food dye from public schools

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A Tennessee bill that would ban Red 40 from being in food or beverages at public schools had advanced in the House this week.

HB0134/SB0476 requires local education agencies and public charter schools to ban all menu items that contain the food dye Red 40 from being sold or offered for sale to schools. Additionally, it prohibits food or beverages with the food dye from being given to students on school grounds.
