ALTOONA, Iowa — A child is in the hospital after being rescued from an Altoona pond Tuesday afternoon, according to a news release from the city.
First responders began searching for a missing young child at Prairie Heritage Pond in Altoona after receiving a report around 3:30 p.m., the release said. About an hour later, the missing child notification was canceled after the child’s personal items were found along the pond’s shore.
A water search and rescue began shortly thereafter in which Altoona fire personnel found the child and began life-saving efforts. The city said the juvenile was transported to Blank Children’s Hospital where their condition remains unknown at this time…
